The Nevada QSO Party welcomes you to the
"Silver State Series" of contests.
Nevada is a rugged, western state.....beautiful, yet desolate.
A place where we still dig gold, silver, copper, rubies, opals, and other precious materials from an often in-hospitable land ....while a blistering hot sun bears down from above.
Most of Nevada is remote. Our towns are small and few in numbers. In most parts of Nevada, mountain lions, coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and longhorn sheep outnumber people. Wild mustangs roam the entire state. From the Mojave Desert, to the Great Basin, to the Sierra Nevada's, cowboys, ranchers, miners, and Native Americans still live and work this land.
However, by contrast our urban areas have grown from the desert floor to glitter brighter than any others in the world. Our gaming, entertainment, dining, and leisure activities are second to none. If you like it fast, flashy, and over the top then Nevada is for you.
Our "Silver State Series" of contests reflect Nevada. Beginning with the "neighborly" 7QP. We join our seven sister states in the 7th call area. For those hams who like a big contest the 7QP fits the bill.
Next comes the premier event of the "Silver State Series", the Nevada Mustang Round-UP. The Round-Up is the Nevada QSO Party. This is a traditional event similar to those of most other states. The Nevada QSO Party is a Godsend to county hunters as Nevada counties are among the rarest to be activated.
How about a sprint type contest? The Nevada High Noon Shootout offers a fast paced grab for the gold. Beginning precisely at high noon at your QTH you begin working Nevada stations for two hours.
Only the scores of stations in your time zone compete against you.
So whether your prefer a big regional contest with thousands of participants such as the 7QP,
or the traditional feel of the Mustang Round-Up, or perhaps the fast moving action of the
Nevada High Noon Shootout, we welcome you to come and join us in one or more of the
"Silver State Series" events.
